Operentra HR Academy

A course that takes you from no HR background to running a company's HR in Operentra. It teaches the HR concept first, then shows how Operentra does it, screen by screen, and ends each chapter with a practice task and a quiz.

The course has 98 chapters in 18 parts, followed by nine reference appendices. The syllabus lists them all, and the sidebar on the left follows the same order. It ends with a graded exam in Operentra; pass it to earn a certificate that anyone can verify (Chapter 98).

Who it is for

  • Someone who has just been handed HR — an office manager, an operations lead, a founder — and needs to do it properly.
  • A new HR assistant or officer learning the job.
  • An experienced HR person moving onto Operentra who wants the whole product in one pass.
  • Anyone evaluating Operentra who would rather learn it than tour it.

No prior HR knowledge is assumed. If you already have it, Part 1 is a quick read and the product starts in Part 2.

How each chapter works

Every chapter after Part 1 follows the same pattern:

  1. The concept — what the HR idea is and why it matters.
  2. How Operentra handles it — the design behind the screens.
  3. Walkthrough — the screens, step by step, with screenshots.
  4. What happens next — the emails that go out, the effect on payroll, and what the employee sees in their portal.
  5. Common mistakes — what goes wrong in real companies, and how to avoid it.
  6. Practice — a task to do in your own workspace.
  7. Quiz — a few questions to check yourself.

Part 1 is HR foundations, so its chapters have no walkthrough. They explain the ideas the rest of the course builds on and point to where each one lives in Operentra.

What you need

  • A browser. Operentra runs in it; there is nothing to install.
  • Your own workspace. Every practice task is done in a workspace you control, so sign up for one at app.operentra.com/register. New workspaces start on a 14-day free trial. Chapter 4 walks through the sign-up, so you can wait until then.
  • About 30 minutes per chapter, more for the payroll chapters.

The screenshots and examples come from Northwind Labs, Inc., a fictional software company in Austin, Texas, with about 45 staff paid in US dollars. Where a US company cannot show something — an end-of-service award, a country with no income tax, documents in Arabic — the course switches to a second fictional company, Dunebridge Technologies in Dubai, and says so.

Other documentation

The course is the long road. For a specific task there are two shorter ones:

  • The Admin guide documents every screen for the people who run a workspace.
  • The User guide is for employees using their portal.
Not legal, tax or accounting advice

The course explains HR concepts in general terms and shows how Operentra implements them. Employment law, tax and social-security rules differ by country, by state or province, and over time. Check your own rules, or ask a professional, before you rely on anything here for a real decision.
